Interview/Article: From Virtual Assistant to Culinary Connoisseur

I was a Virtual Assistant (VA) for 3 years, not only a VA but a TSVA (tech savvy virtual assistant). I enjoyed working with small businesses to help brand online through their websites and social media. Watching these businesses grow and seeing the owners so excited made me wonder about what I was doing and I started to question if I really loved being a VA. Seeing the positive results from my work led me to express myself even more and I created my little guy, a cartoon character.

The cartoon character is no ordinary character. He is A frog dressed up in a chef’s outfit promoting laughter, healthy eating and nutritional awareness for all ages! I called him “Coqui The Chef”. Years ago, I wasn’t much of a cook and with tight schedules, raising two kids on my own, food became time consuming and only when I had the time would I make a home cooked meal. If not, then we went to the drive up window or called for delivery.  When I noticed my health and my children’s health decline, I had to look into the source of this. When I started to read about health and nutrition, I noticed that food is a major contribution to our being, our bodies. If we feed it junk then junk is what we get and see.  I started to change our diet slowly, I knew fast food/take out has chemicals that entice our smells and make us want to eat it even if it’s not good for you.

Through Coqui The Chef, I taught my kids a new way to look at food by introducing food in a fun and loving way. I also started mixing herbs and spices with veggies and meat, they loved it! That is when the idea of sharing Coqui The Chef with everybody was born. Using my talents and with the help of my talented friends, I was able to make my dream come true.  I learned to love fine food and appreciate taste; I became Coqui The Chef’s Culinary Connoisseur.

As a Culinary Connoisseur, I go to cooking demos, read culinary books, food festivals, etc. I love my new job, my new business and I get to spend more time in the kitchen. I cook awesome meals for my family, teach them how to cook and spend quality time with them at the table.

I still do some social media branding but gave myself a different title which is “social media strategist” I love my new jobs!

Tania Lopez, social media strategist and woman entrepreneur, who enjoys the simple things in life: food, networking, her work, family and friends. Her background includes work with… small entrepreneurial establishments and large companies. Her dual strengths are creative imagination and a strong business sense.

She is also the proud owner of “Coqui The Chef” a loving coqui (frog) dressed in a chef’s outfit. Coqui The Chef inspires people to return to their indigenous cuisine. Their mission is to help YOU eat healthy and love cooking!
